Bar Harbor

My husband and I went with my sister and her husband to Bar Harbor, Maine over July 4th weekend. It was fabulous! There’s something that feels very American about staying at the Bar Harbor Inn and watching amazing fireworks after eating lobster and wild blueberry pie.

Day 1

Arrival and Ebike Adventure

Morning: Arrival in Bar Harbor

Welcome to the charming coastal town of Bar Harbor, your gateway to the stunning Acadia National Park! After checking into your accommodation, head to the Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop to pick up your rented ebikes. These electric bikes will be your trusty companions as you explore the picturesque landscapes of Acadia.

Afternoon: Ebiking the Carriage Roads

Strap on your helmets and set out on your ebikes to embark on an unforgettable adventure through Acadia. The Carriage Roads offer a 26-mile loop that winds through a large part of the park. While the ebikes don't eliminate the need for effort, they certainly make conquering the hills much more enjoyable. You'll be treated to breathtaking views of Acadia's natural beauty as you pedal through this magnificent landscape.

Kayak Tour and Sunset Magic

Morning: Kayaking Adventure

Today, it's time to take to the water for an exciting kayak tour of Bar Harbor's harbor. Book your tour with Acadia Fun and get ready for an immersive marine experience. As you paddle along, keep an eye out for majestic eagles, graceful whales, and playful porpoises.

Evening: Sunset Kayak Tour

For a touch of enchantment, opt for a sunset kayak tour. Watching the sun dip below the horizon from the tranquility of your kayak is a memory you'll treasure forever. Don't worry if you're not an experienced kayaker; you can share a tandem kayak with a friend or partner.

Hiking and Seaside Strolls

Morning: Gorham Mountain Loop Hike

Strap on your hiking shoes, or at least sturdy sneakers, and hit the trail! Hiking the Gorham Mountain Loop in Acadia is a must-do. The loop is approximately 3 miles long and offers a moderate workout. You'll encounter some boulder-climbing in the first half, but the reward is reaching the summit, where you'll be treated to stunning views overlooking the sparkling waters.

Afternoon: Coastal Exploration

Continue your day with a leisurely stroll along Sand Beach and a visit to Thunder Hole. The paved path will guide you along the scenic coastline, allowing you to soak in the beauty of the rugged Maine coast.
